Mesh
Mesh means the number of openings of fractions of openings
in either direction per lineal inch of wire fabric, measured
from center to center of parallel wires, as illustrated.
To determine
the mesh of a given weave, measure from the center of a wire
to a point one inch distant and count the intervening openings.
|
Space
Space means the actual "clear opening" or distance
between wires as illustrated. |
How to Measure
and Order Wire Cloth
In measuring
and ordering wire cloth, specify the various meshes, space or diameter
of the wire to insure proper delivery. The following table shows
the variations in diameter of wire in 6 different makes of gauges
and the two illustrations show the proper way to measure "mesh"
and "space". For available meshes with wire diameter and
percentage of open areas, see our product listings.
